The most valuable jacket sold at auction was the black and red calf leather jacket with winged shoulders worn by singer Michael Jackson (USA) in his renowned 1983 Thriller video, which was sold to Milton Verret of Austin, Texas, USA, for £1.1m ($1.8m) at a sale organised by Julien's Auction in Beverly Hills, California, USA, on 26 June 2011. The jacket is signed on the sleeve by the late singer and was one of two used for the shoot of the famous zombies dance scene. The other one is owned by the Jackson estate. The jacket was designed by Deborah Landis, the wife of the Thriller director, John Landis and presented by Jackson to the vendors, Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, his longtime costume designers. The buyer is a gold trader who plans to use it to raise money for children's charities.
