World’s tallest and shortest women face off in epic Hungry Hungry Hippos showdown
This epic game of Hungry Hungry Hippos between the world’s tallest woman and shortest woman is the content you never knew you needed!
When we brought Rumeysa Gelgi (Türkiye) and Jyoti Amge (India) to London for the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day, we took the opportunity to pit them against each other in a showdown of the classic game.
While the ladies may have bonded over their love for self-care and beauty, the gloves were off and the game faces were on when we brought out those peckish little hippos.
Jyoti, who stands at 62.8 cm (2 ft 0.7 in), got in position for the game, sitting on the table opposite Rumeysa, who is a whole 5 ft taller at 215.16 cm (7 ft 0.7 in).
Jyoti let Rumeysa know she was taking the game very seriously by pointing at her eyes then at Rumeysa as if to say “I’m watching you”.
Rumeysa returned the gesture, and after a countdown they both started hammering on the triggers to get their hippos to eat as many of the little plastic balls as possible.
“Come on, Jyoti,” Rumeysa said, putting rivalry aside to cheer on her fellow record holder.
Despite the language barrier between them, Jyoti and Rumeysa giggled and beamed big smiles as they tried to conquer the game.
They even worked together to get one last pesky ball that had managed to evade the hippos.
After a quick count, Rumeysa revealed: “Jyoti got four balls, I got 10 balls. I think I won this game.”
Rumeysa and Jyoti were both given ICON status in the 2025 edition of Guinness World Records, which kicked off the 70th anniversary celebrations of the book.

Her trip to London for GWR Day was her first time in the UK, but not Jyoti’s, as she has travelled around the world and even starred in TV show American Horror Story: Freak Show, which saw her earn another record title for shortest actress.
